I’m happy to announce that I will be shifting roles at Infusionsoft after six years. Sometimes change can be unsettling; other times it can be empowering. This is one of those times when it is empowering.
After giving it much thought, I will be the Developer Partner Program Manager at Infusionsoft. I genuinely feel this is the right direction for me based on a number of factors.
This opportunity wasn’t just given to me. It was something I’ve been reaching for over the years and I feel very excited for the future of integrating products and services with Infusionsoft. I have such an admiration and genuine love for people who can take one system and make it do cool things with another system. Likewise, there are many amazing people who create solutions in the Marketplace and I know there are thousands more who would create solutions customers need if they had the right guidance into the needs of those customers.
A developer program at a growing software company isn’t a delicate matter. Given that APIs have become the tools of the trade before business partnerships, to me, it’s critical to strengthen the platform infrastructure and support so we can attract newcomers as well as super-serve existing providers within the ecosystem.
I’ve always experienced a true sense of delight in serving our customers. They have very real needs and desires when it comes to running their businesses and sometimes they need solutions outside of the scope of our flagship software. And while it would be nice to build everything they want, it’s impossible. As our software gets more focused on delivering the benefits they seek, there is an increasing demand for third-party integrations. Whether it’s for reporting/analytics purposes, or e-commerce or simply data synchronization, there is a proven need to bring these solutions to market faster. And our partners, namely Infusionsoft’s Developer Partners, do exactly that — they bring solutions to market and help better serve our customer’s demands.
As far as my past responsibilities — such as, overseeing our company’s blog, educating staff on blogging and supporting my team with their needs around WordPress — we just posted a position for a Senior Blog Manager. If you’ve managed a successful multi-author blog before, I encourage you to apply. It’s been a long journey and I’ve taken our blogging program about as far as I can take it. Like our social media program, it is something that will always be near and dear to my heart. It’s great to step out of the way once in a while and see your creations grow and scale to new levels.
I’m excited to share my love for content and social media and apply it to a different type of function in the business. I firmly believe that it can be applied in many ways to educate, nurture and support hundreds and even thousands of developers to increase the scalability of the program. Expect that sometime in the coming months, I’ll share updates on this front and prove that content and online community can be great R&D investments beyond the lead generation and sales.
I’m excited while being open-minded about the developer program at Infusionsoft. Not having all the answers will keep me on my toes, it’ll allow me to build the next big thing at Infusionsoft.
