Cyber Monday with a Cause

Today, the Monday after Thanksgiving, is known as Cyber Monday due to the online sales on many retailers have on the Web. In conjunction with Cyber Monday, GoodSearch has a new feature on their Website, GoodShop, which enables you to give back a percentage of your purchases without costing you a penny.

Shopping on the Web for many is an activity that is usually done when there is a killer deal to be found. Unfortunately, many don’t often consider donating or contributing to charities as they hunt for that special deal. GoodShop is one way you can feel good knowing that you are giving back while getting a great deal online.

It works like this:

  1. You go to goodshop.com.
  2. Search for a charity of your choice. (When in doubt, I suggest searching for Red Cross.)
  3. Click Verify to confirm your charity.
  4. Scroll down and go to the retailer of your choice. The donation amount will be listed.
  5. Continue to shop as usual.

The donations are funded through affiliate commissions that retailers pay. That means, retails often pay publishers (like GoodSearch), a couple percent in exchange for users completing sales. The credit is then applied to the charity of the users’ choice. It’s a win-win-win for the consumer, the retailer and the charity.
